When we talk about the safety of our children, we think about school shootings, suicides, and bullying. The concern that continues to surface for everyone is the difficulty in making changes to a system that holds firmly to the way things have always been done. Because of this mindset, our students are victims of low test scores, relentless bullying and school shooting that have claimed a fraction of the nationwide student population, but no matter how small, all students impacted MATTER!
This is not something that should be taken lightly.
In school we learn about being flexible, finding our voice and being remarkable. When we as adults return to help improve and carry the baton through the next leg of the race, we are met with unnecessary opposition because of the leadership’s push back on new suggestions for improvement to step up the game. When asked why this is done, it was explained that it is due to fear of being replaced or forgotten. I am here to tell you that without the current leaders and their experience we would have to re-invent the wheel and that takes time, something we are not interested in doing. We want to collaborate and fuse the two areas of expertise together as a way to improve and continue to build on what is currently in place.
The way things are being done today has gotten us to where we are now and we are thankful for the road that has been paved for us. In order for you not to be forgotten, I would like to ask if you could at least begin a conversation with a person that would be a great person to follow in your footsteps and continue your legacy. Or a person that would be a great person to rally around incredible ideas and make them happen.
Our children can’t continue to go to school fearing the click of the door opening, low testing schools because of geographic location or the excessive bullying that is excused by saying, “they will grow out of it”. This is not the case anymore and the status quo is hurting our future. I am asking for the opportunity to collaborate with you to create a cost-effective option to continue steering the future into a direction that would be beneficial for all parties involved. The opportunity to be innovative, creative and stand out in an already exciting environment is a way to show our future leaders that support, competition, and collaboration can exist in the same space.
This is a call to action because fear and frustration can not be the new norm for education.
